The possibilities go on?  To 3D Blast and (at a push) Spinball?  Or Mean Bean Machine?  Not enough choice here tbh, though I'd pick Sonic 2 (Sonic 2'd make it onto my all-time Top-10 list, probably number 3 behind Metal Gear Solid and Baldur's Gate 2).
This topic has now been officially won by me.  Never mind, you might do better next time!

BG2 is fun :o.

But personally, I had more fun playing Dungeons and Dragons Heroes and Gauntlet Dark legacy, hehe

Spinball and Sonic 3D are better than people give them credit for.

That said, my fave is by far S3&K. I think Sonic 2 is kinda overrated.

Yeah, Sonic 2 is very overrated, actually, to me, I think it sucks, meh. Well, my favorite Genesis game is Sonic & Knuckles, but I never got to fully appreciate Genesis and only had like 2 games for it, Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckles. :/ I was always a Nintendo fan... :(
Chaos Emeralds: Yellow, Red, Green, Blue and Purple.

1. That picture is simply hilarious. roffle. I just have to have a copy of it.
2. Thread necromancy is bad. I hearby give the mods permission to conjure up a "penalty game." (Which as some of you know, is one of my trademarks established in a forum game, which got their inspirations from another source.). If they want to use it but can't think of any ideas, just ask me and I'll come up with one.

I should do some thing to my little brother. I leave FOR 4 HOURS TO SEE WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND IS UP TO AND HE DOES STUPID THINGS ON MY PROFILE!!! MAN HE EVEN DISABLED ME FROM USING SUBMISSIONS!!! My favorite Genesis Sonic Game has to be Sonic 3 and Knuckles for it has the only true appearance of Hyper Sonic, Super Tails, and Hyper Knuckles. What would've been cool would be that by Connecting Sonic 2 to S&K would allow you to play as Sonic, Tails, S&T, or Knuckles and use their Super and Hyper forms. Also in Sonic 1, but the Blue Sphere game was a nice move, though.

True Sonic 3. Hands down. That game is so addictive. Its the first thing I play whenever I boot up Mega Collection. Sonic 2 is a close second, because it means so much to me.

(True Sonic 3 is what I call S3+Knuckles)
6 Records. Mostly oldschool.

(I'm not bumping, am I?)

My favorite Genesis game would be Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

I like Sonic 1, it's just not my favorite. Sonic 2 was really good.

But Sonic 3 and Knuckles was great. The savestates introduced in 3 were awesome. But the levels themselves. They seemed to be lengthened, and harder. Maybe they just seem longer because of the set up (Miniboss, act over, continue path)...

To me, it seemed the first game with an actual bit of storyline, which set up the rest of the series. Sure, in Sonic 1 and 2 you had to collect the emeralds and whatnot, but it didn't explain much.

This told us about the ME and Knuckles and all that.

Now, there were the Super Emeralds... But I'm just going to ignore that point right now. XD

My favorite would have to be Sonic the Hedgehog 2.  It had some of my all-time favorite 2D Sonic music, and I couldn't begin to count the number of times I've played that game.  It also featured the best (IMO) multi-player for any 2D Sonic game (Running laps in S3&K just wasn't as satisfying).  Sonic 3 & Knuckles would come in as my close second.
Never forget who you are.

I agree with all of that. Except I'm trying to figure where Sonic CD fits in, both in gameplay and music.
Maybe after S3&K for gameplay, but in second (after Sonic 2) for music.
Oh, and by the way, I've only heard the US version. *puts on bulletproof, blastproof armor*

I don't know if the memories of playing Sonic 2 affect anything. Maybe a little.
Even SA... I still remember trying to glitch through the gate to the jungle (at least I'm pretty sure that's what I was doing... I never figured I'd succeed eventually) back when it was in stores.
But anyway, this is off-topic.

Yeah, for me, multiplayer in S2 was greatly better than the m.p in S3. I still have fond memories of it... 'specially Special Stage. I still play the game's multiplayer till this day. :)

...I'm trying to figure where Sonic CD fits in, both in gameplay and music...

Gameplay:
S3K > Sonic CD > Sonic 2 > Sonic > Knuckles Chaotix

Music
Sonic CD > S3K > Knuckles Chaotix > Sonic 2 > Sonic
Go not to the linguaphiles for help, for they will say both "Yes" and "No" and "That reminds me of an interesting story about long vowels in Upper Sorbian which I must tell you right now..."
